From Ms. Fernandes: There are a number of suggestions out there for staying socially connected from a distance. Here are some of our favorites!
Virtual lunch- some students have enjoyed setting up a virtual lunch with the students at their school lunch table. Pick a day and a time and connect using one of the many available digital formats- but make sure it is parent-approved!.
Game night- some board games have websites that enable you to join friends in a virtual game. Other games can be played in a virtual chat- these include Charades, Pictionary, Bingo or HeadsUp!
Virtual movie nights/Film club- Pick a movie to watch together from home! After it’s over, join your friends in a chat to discuss your thoughts on the movie. You can even schedule this on a weekly basis and start a film club from home!
Book club- Tired of screens? Pick a new and interesting book to read together with your friends. Before you start, make sure that everyone has access to the book and decide how many pages/chapters you will read each week. Pick a day to meet virtually to discuss!
Letters and cards- who doesn't enjoy getting something in the mail? Before the days of email we used to communicate with letters and stamps. Mail out paper notes or cards to family/friends to brighten their days in a non-digital way!
